Madhe Ghat (मढे घाट)

Honestly, this year we were not able to make the most of our rainy season like the way we do every year – traveling around various tourist locations around Pune, specifically mountains, ghats and valleys with plenty of waterfalls.

Luckily, last weekend we found a location called “Made Ghat” (about 75 km from Wakad, Pune) and immediately made up our mind to check it out.

As always, we aimed to start early but it wasn’t until 10:00 am that we could get out of the parking lot. Weather was definitely so bright and beautiful, making it even more exciting and eager to make the best out of the day.

We reached Khadakwasla and took a short 5 min break as the morning breeze over the vast area that was covered by water made it so cool and pleasant, couldn’t resist taking few pictures.

The 2h 30m drive estimate was surely making us feel that we should hurry through so that it won’t be too hot during the afternoon time.

As soon as we turned towards Panshet (away from the Sinhagad Road), after a few kilometers there was a left turn which took us to what was supposed to become the greatest highlight of the entire journey – narrow, winding, twisting roads covered with dense greenery on both sides and blue skies wherever we could look around.

Here’s a vlog of the journey. Do watch it, like and subscribe too 🙂

Historically, the spot is known for its connection to the warrior Tanaji Malusare. When Malusare died in the battle of Sinhagad, his body was to be taken for last rites in his native village Umrathe near PoladpurTanaji Malusare‘s funeral procession was taken to his native place starting from Madhe Ghat.

It was one of the most enjoyable day out for us throughout. Will share some photos too in couple of days over here.
