Trip to Village in Satara

Hey folks, we hope you enjoyed this Diwali vacation a lot and had a great time to spend with family and friends. For us, it was quite a great time as we went on a 2 day trip to our home town (a village situated on the banks of Krishna river in Satara district).

It was a beautiful Saturday morning, the day after the Laxmi puja day. We had earlier planned that we shall leave at night itself to avoid any kind of traffic but somehow cancelled that plan and decided to start early morning (well 10 am was that early morning, not so great huh!).

Getting out of Pune city was a breeze and we soon passed the Katraj tunnel and everything changed post that. We spent about an hour and a half just around the first toll at Khed Shivapur and what was supposed to be a two and a half hour drive, was a four hour long adventure. Luckily, we all were in good spirits and it wasn’t tiring after all.

Here’s the entire road trip vlog.

The drive through the Khambatki Ghat was quite awesome, this time got it all recorded. You might really like it.

The mesmerising landscape of western ghats is what makes it a pleasant as well as thrilling drive. Largely rainy season is when you get the best out of it all, but other times are quite awesome too 🙂

“Dakshin Kashi” Shiva Temples

If you are someone who likes to visit ancient temples, I would certainly recommend that you visit what is called as “Dakshin Kashi” a small village called as “Sangam Mahuli” situated on the banks of Krishna river where the two rivers – Krishan and Venna meet.

These temples are almost 400 years old and have a unique architecture. Unfortunately, not much attention is given by the administration to improvise these areas but there is no doubt, these are ancient master pieces and if the right amount of effort is spent in making it easier for tourists and devotees, these temples would attract millions of visitors every year.

There are about 3 temples and few more, we couldn’t visit them all but the one we visited was itself a great experience. There a no words to describe how great it felt to get the opportunity to visit it. The details are covered in the video, do watch it.

Later we headed back to our village, basically its about 20 km from Satara highway and again situated quite close the Krishna river. I’ll upload few more videos about the village life and a visit to a farm.
